The dangers of ‘fad diets’…
If you run a standard Google search for ‘rapid weight loss diets’ as an exact match, you get over 2.7 million web pages that are indexed by the world’s number one search engine for that search term. That tells you there are a lot of people out there who have published web pages on which they give advice about how to lose weight.
Many of these sites contain information that is both valid and valuable, but a great many others are full of half-baked theories and ideas that have little or no substance in reality!
There are dozens of ‘fad diet’ pages (not unlike the ones we were considering earlier). These will often focus on the latest ‘trendy’ theories about things that might work as part of a fast weight loss program eating regime, or they might not.
Beware of such ’fad diets’ at all costs!
Most of these ‘diet plans’ are often nothing more than crash diets by another name, implying that you starve yourself as a way of losing weight.
It does not take a genius to work out that if you stop eating, you will lose weight.

Indeed, if you stop eating entirely, you will lose so much weight that you will die in around something like 60 days, so, starving yourself will undoubtedly shed the additional poundage that you want to get rid of. Unfortunately, it will not do so in a way that is even remotely healthy.
Most ‘fad’ diets focus on eating a great deal of one particular type of food while at the same time reducing consumption of other food types or even removing them from the overall diet plan altogether. This will definitely generate weight loss, but it will not do so in a healthy fashion, because a balanced diet is essential for long-term human health.
Nor are the ‘beneficial’ effects of such a ‘fad’ diet likely to be long lasting (although the adverse effects certainly could be).
As soon as you have completed your fast weight loss program, you are going to return to a normal, healthy balanced diet (or at least, you should do). When you do so, eating the foodstuffs that you have denied yourself for weeks or months is likely to see extra weight being piled back on just as quickly as you managed to get rid of it.
Another problem with ‘fad’ diets is that, because of their focus on one particular type or group of foodstuffs, they tend to be boring and uninteresting. You start to crave for those foodstuffs that this particular diet denies to you, and such a craving is not going to be something that you can ignore for ever!
Many ‘fad’ diets ignore healthy eating on an even more basic level than this.
Because of their focus on one particular food group to the exclusion of others, ‘fad’ diets will often encourage you to ignore basic healthy eating rules, such as the requirement to eat a certain number of portions of fruit and vegetables every day. As another example, such a diet plan might recommend that you avoid eating oily fish, ignoring the fact that they are one of the best known sources of the essential trans-fatty acids that are vital for long-term good health.
Because all of these here-today, gone-tomorrow so-called diet plans are accorded miracle status because of their ability to help you shed weight extremely quickly, all that they are really doing is storing up potential problems for the future.
Rapid weight loss diets of this type is almost always temporary, and the chances of you regaining the weight that you have lost by following such a ‘fad’ diet are extremely high.
